It's high time to update the emergency lighting outside of your paint spray booth. While this area is not deemed an explosive environment, NEC Code requires you to have a Class 1 Division 2 fixture outside that is sufficiently protected in case a spill or other situation occurs. It may seem like overkill in an otherwise non-hazardous environment -- but think again.
In these situations, a tiny spark from a circuit board - like the ones inside unprotected exit lighting - could ignite a huge explosion. So the best way to stay safe without breaking the bank is our long-life Class 1 Division 2 LED Emergency Light.
Our sleek and stylish EXP-6-18-LEDMR16-5 is constructed with a .100" thick heavy die cast aluminum back housing, which we then powder coat with an industrial gray baked-on finish.
A clear 0.125" thick polycarbonate lens protects the lighting heads within from vandalism and impact. To meet NEC and OSHA protocols for Class 1 Div. 2 spaces, a memory retention gasket protects the inside cavity from dust, moisture or water intrusion.
The EXP-6-18-LEDMR16-5 uses dual 5W LED MR16 heads which can be hand positioned by first removing the polycarbonate shield. Halogen produces a bright light with a slightly warm color temperature that cuts through dust and smoke better than pure-white light sources like LED.
Battery and UL Testing
The EXP-6-18-LEDMR16-5 includes a 6V maintenance-free Sealed Lead Acid battery that maintains a 18W load rated for at least 90 minutes. The SLA battery requires only 24-hours to fully re-charge. There is also the option for Nickel-Cadmium batteries which have a longer lifespan than SLA types.
Because Ni-Cd batteries are much lighter than Lead Acid type, the shipping costs will be a significantly less than the equivalent SLA model. Ni-Cd battery replacements are typically cheaper to buy, and last up to three years longer than 6V sealed lead acid blocks.
